Shirley Lee

Shirley Lee is a writer, translator and composer. While reading Classics and Persian at Oxford, she co-translated the poetry of ten leading Chinese poets since the Cultural Revolution, as well as the love poems of Nobel Laureate Liu Xiaobo, which were broadcast on the BBC World Service. More recently, she translated for the Asia Literary Review poems by defected North Korean state poet Jang Jin-sung, who represented N. Korea at Poetry Parnassus as part of the London 2012 Olympic Games. She worked with Jang Jin-Sung on his memoir, Dear Leader.
