Jesús Ian Kumamoto is a New York-based culture and identity writer and photographer. Born to a Mayan/Japanese father and a Chinese mother, Jesús Ian co- founded a magazine dedicated to uplifting marginalized communities titled Chaos + Comrades. Ian has graduated from New York University with a BA in Journalism and Global Liberal studies, and has received the NYU course away for “Best Thesis” and was the Hearst Multimedia Finalist for his work “Young, Queer and Left Behind: A Community in Crisis.” Ian’s writing can be found in The New York Times, Quartz, PBS, HuffPost, Slate and Time Out Shanghai amongst others.
